Due to a recent bladder infection, we presented Index in early November 2017 in a special vet-clinic. In addition to an ultrasound examination of his bladder, prostate, liver, kidneys and spleen, the urine was examined and a large blood examination, including geriatrc profile created. Interview of the examining vet: "The ultrasound findings of the organs are completely unremarkable and he has blood counts like a three-year-old male. We have not had such a healthy dog here for a long time! "
When Index refused to feed four weeks later one day, we thought it was because our newcomer "Isabeaux" got another feed, and he was a bit jealous of it. When he still did not take any food on the second day, we were already worried. When this condition did not change on the third day, we drove to the vet-clinic.
After presenting the investigation report from last month, the first examination was a shock for us: His kidney values had dropped sharply and the x-ray of the abdomen suggested something bad. The next day, vets tried to stabilize Index. But to pinpoint, they had to do a surgery operation. It was found that there was no hope for him. The kidneys were completely deformed and no longer recognizable as such. Index died due to acute renal failure. The intake of poison during a walk can not be excluded.
After the sudden death of Macho at the beginning of 2017, now the next completely unexpected stroke of fate that deeply affects us.
Due to its special character Index was for us the absolute dream dog! Our one and only ! We are happy that we were allowed to have had such a "soul dog". He was "one of a million" and we have the comfort of knowing that he will live on in his children!
We will never forget him!
Shortly after his death, we received the examination report of the EMBARK Institute (https://emparkvet.com) from the USA. EMBARK is an institute whose goal is to research hereditary diseases. In the meantime, they have built up a huge database. With a dog's DNA sample, you can see if he has genes that are responsible for hereditary diseases, such as: DCM, cancer, etc. Index was estimated at 165 potential inheritances and is FREE of all these. This is one of the healthiest Doberman-males in this database.
This is what causes poisoning for his deadly death more and more likely!
